Waiting for "What are the odds?"

Image
19 May,2020 The only thing I look forward to right now ( apart from binge watching my ceiling fan) is Netflix's "What are the odds?" releasing tomorrow. The film has already been premiered in the some film festival and I searched the entire web for it but in vain. Recently , Netflix released the trailer of this quirky looking film and the probability that I would watch this film is ONE. The film stars Abhay Deol and  Yashaswini Dayama. The movie seems to be promising and quirky and I HOPE IT DOESN'T DISAPPOINT. The previous Netflix original starring Abhay Deol , "Chopsticks" was one of a kind and the expectations from "What are the odds?" are high. Stay tuned for a review tomorrow! ek mai aur ek tu - revisiting the songs

Image
" Kabhi kabhi life mai aisa lagta hai ki ham sach much udd sakte hai... Aisa lagta hai yeh mauka sirf hamare liye banaya gaya hai."  - Ek mai hu aur ekk tu I have always loved Bollywood music, maybe because bollywood songs have been an integral part of my childhood or maybe because of their "vibe". And before you judge , this love is definitely not for remakes like... Let's not mention ;) Revisiting ek mai hu aur ek tu - sometimes its good to break free. Bollywood likes Las Vegas and some of the best bollywood songs have been shot  in Vegas. "Boring boring zindagi ke muh pe chidkenge paani , iss pal ke badshah hai kre kyu na manaanii." Each frame of this song was dramatic and fun. I know real life doesn't happen like this - that is why we have movies right? Ending this with a YouTube comment - P.S - I had an ONLINE EXAM today and th

Netflix's Taj Mahal 1989 - Finding love the old school way

Image
"Love is nothing but the options available."- Taj Mahal 1989 The series is set in the late 1980s ; however , there are moments when one questions the era the series is based in. At some places , the stories felt way ahead of their time. Taj Mahal 1989 revolves around the ideas of love , politics and philosophy ( interestingly). Each character is well written and helps the story advance. Each story is very different from the other and yet the characters were woven so perfectly. I think the idea of "weaving" different stories into one got popular after "Masaan" ( if you haven't watched Masaan , this is probably the best time to watch it, we all are quarantined anyways). The story is set in Lucknow University, and if we analyse each character , we might find stark similarities between them and the people we know in real life - the reaction and the thinking patterns mostly. 'The lunchbox' reveals the harsh realities of a mediocre life

Image
Dialogue of the day  " कभी कभी गलत ट्रेन भी सही जगह पहुंचा देती है" - The lunchbox "Kabhi kabhi galat train bhi sahi jagah pahucha deti hai." - The lunchbox        The beauty of "The lunchbox" lies in how it captures  'mediocre' lives in the city of Mumbai. Mr. Fernandes lives a fairly normal life ; he travels in the Mumbai local , works from 9 to 5 and eats average food from a restaurant nearby his house. Mr. Fernandes is the epitome of a mediocre , lonely person living in a metropolitan city. Often he stands in the balcony observing his neighbors eat their meal together. Fernandes is full of regret for not spending the time he could with his wife. The concept of 'regretting' not spending time with a person while they were around is not confined to the movie but also translates to real life. I'll quote something John Green said , " You can never love a person as much as you can miss them." Relevant , isn't
